Two new openings

Before that, the work – the cost of which is one million euros – promises to be colossal. On the ground floor, the current entrance will be closed. “Two openings will be created, one overlooking Place Clemenceau and which will be the entrance on the boutique side and one on Rue Joffre for the Saisons restaurant. We are also going to create a large terrace here,” announces Mathieu Tresarrieu. Who hopes that customers will stop for a coffee, lunch, between two purchases. The name Saisons refers to the dishes that will be prepared with current products and also to the terms used to talk about the clothing collections.

From the basement to the second floor, everything will be renovated.

In addition to the restaurant, the AMT window will be located on this level, with a presentation of the different items (clothing, decoration, posters, books, etc.) that customers will be able to find on the different floors. “We are going to regain light,” assures Mathieu Tresarrieu, who is still wondering whether or not the metal structures will be maintained.

The basement, until now mainly dedicated to reserves, will be open to the public. This space with urban decoration will revolve around the street brand Carhartt.

The mezzanine will be more oriented towards women. Mid-range brands, such as Grace & Mila, will be presented at this level.

The apartment becomes a boutique

A few steps higher, the space will be shared between eco-responsible brands (like Veja, Patagonia or Faguo) and Levi’s items. “Brooklyn was known for its jeans department and even if a Levi’s store was set up on rue Foch, we cannot ignore it. We think that we will have a different clientele, who will also benefit from a multi-brand space,” explains Arnaud Tresarrieu.

Consumers who will discover the second floor of the building for the first time. It was until then occupied by sewing workshops, offices and the staff apartment. Access to this boutique apartment will be via the wooden staircase or elevator. “Here, you will have the impression of being in a pretty apartment in the heart of the city. In which you will find fashion and decorative items from brands like Ralph Lauren, American Vintage or Bellerose…” explains Mathieu Tresarrieu.

Another project for the Galleries?

Although there is still much work to be done, the brothers from Nay have the impression of reaching their goal. “We have been in negotiations for 10 years to buy this building, this location. We preferred its history to that of the Palais des Pyrénées which, in addition, had rental conditions that were too high,” confides Arnaud. Who doesn’t fear the return of the Galleries to the square. “If they reopen, it will increase the flow of people, so that’s a good thing.” In the meantime, we will be the biggest multi-brand in the center anyway.”

The Tresarrieu family also do not hide their interest in this historic building. In conjunction with the town hall, they might have an idea or two to occupy one of the spaces, on the theme of leisure. “We can imagine anything. We are only 40 years old,” they smile.
