Voters in Verruyes were invited to vote twice this Sunday, June 30. A first for the first half of the legislative elections. A high turnout was observed here, as in all of Gâtine, with nearly 64% of voters going to the polling booths.
The Verruyquois were also invited to complete for the second time since 2020 their municipal council, which, for four years now, has been experiencing a haemorrhage of resignations. Six have left the municipal council since 2022, making the administration of this municipality difficult if not impossible. The budget was not adopted last April, further increasing the tension between a mayor viscerally attached to his seat and almost all of the other elected officials who no longer want to work with him.
Three lists present
For the mayor in office who had proposed a collective resignation and which he never implemented, the fault for this deleterious atmosphere lies with his opponents. And exclusively with them. In an interview he gave us this winter, the chief magistrate exonerated himself from any responsibility for the malaise that has reigned since his election.
For this election, three lists are present. First there is that of the mayor: “So that Verruyes remains Verruyes”. Facing the mayor’s friends, Cécilia Rochefort’s list is entitled “Let’s return to Verruyes”.
And a third list with a rather ecological connotation: “Together for Verruyes the citizen”/
The result of this election is clear for Mayor Patrick Caillet. Voters have turned away from his list as demonstrated by the results below.

232 votes were needed to be elected.

: Elected: Aurélien Brault (262 votes), Estelle Davenel (262), Wilfried Metais (245), José Pereira-Vilar (259) and Franck Ridet (256).
List Together for Verruyes the citizen
: zero elected.
There will be a second round next Sunday, July 7, to elect the last seat to be filled.
