the route of the fourth stage

The profile of the fourth stage of the Tour de France 2024.

For this switch to France, the organizers have not skimped. After three days of racing in Italy, between Florence, Bologna and Turin, the riders enter France and the high mountains. On Tuesday, July 2, the start of the fourth stage of the 2024 Tour de France takes place in the small town of Pignerol, located on the outskirts of Turin, before entering the French Alps, for a finish in Valloire (Savoie).

Although short – 139.6 kilometres – today’s stage promises to be a busy one, and the cyclists’ bodies will be put to the test. And this is the case right from the very first moments of the race, with a false flat climb of more than 40 kilometres that will take them to the summit of Sestriere (39.9 kilometres at 3.7%), where the Italian Fausto Coppi triumphed in 1952. After a short descent, the peloton will enter France via the Col de Montgenèvre (8.3 kilometres at 5.9%).

Finally, the terrible Col du Galibier (23 kilometres at 5.1%) will begin, with its slope including the Col du Lautaret and located 20 kilometres from the finish. At its summit, the first three will respectively collect eight, five and two bonus seconds. The most used Alpine pass in the history of the Tour (38 times) will allow us to take stock of the forces present. On this fourth day of racing, 31 points will be awarded to the rider who passes the summits in the lead.
