An oil depot was on fire Friday morning in the Tambov region in southern Russia following a Ukrainian drone attack, the regional governor said. The region is located several hundred kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

“At 4:35 a.m. (3:35 a.m. Swiss) (…) a drone flight towards an oil depot was recorded,” Maxime Egorov initially indicated in a press release published on Telegram. “A small fire then broke out. Currently, the fire is localized,” he added. There are “no casualties to report” after this attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry, as usual, did not report this attack on an energy infrastructure. But it claimed to have “intercepted” 25 Ukrainian explosive drones during the night over its territory, without however at this stage mentioning the Tambov region.

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said on Telegram that a drone had been shot down, but that its fall had “partially damaged the roof of the administration building” in this region bordering Ukraine.
