Residents of South Aveyron are organizing to preserve local businesses

The closure of a business in a rural municipality always has a disastrous impact, whether in terms of proximity, services to the population, maintaining social ties and the attractiveness of the territory. Even more so if this was the last and offered access to basic necessities to residents limited in their movements. In , 21,000 municipalities (INSEE figure for 2021) are devoid of businesses.

Citizen grocery stores, all stakeholders

In South Aveyron, residents of Viala du Tarn, Saint-Sever du Moustier, Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon, Comprégnac, Saint-Rome-de-Cernon mobilized and organized, each in their own way , but always collectively, to take over or create grocery stores and thus meet the needs of the inhabitants of their rural areas in terms of local shops

Representatives of the Dépanneur, the Marchande, the Panier, the Epi-C, the Lien du Cernon are meeting this Wednesday November 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Saint-Rome-de-Cernon village hall to exchange their respective experiences in terms of values, operation and management, governance, procurement, and creation of social bonds. This will also be an opportunity to discuss ways of organizing possible cooperation between their structures.

This meeting is public, to allow those who would like to know more about these grocery stores, perhaps with a view to being active in their turn, in their villages. Each of them will bring local products that they wish to discover to close this time of exchange in conviviality and the pleasure of good things.
