Around a few pieces collected during the revolutionary era by Father Laire, the collections were enriched in the 19th and 20th centuries, notably under the action of the Society of Historical and Natural Sciences of Yonne. Initially the “natural history” section of the Departmental Museum, these collections have formed the Auxerre Museum since 1980.
