If you’re looking for the perfect Ontario summer getaway, look no further than the quaint village of Wellington. Located on the north shore of Lake Ontario in beautiful Prince Edward County, this place has country charm with all the trappings of a city. And one of its premier hotels just got some epic summer upgrades!

The village of Wellington is in the heart of wine country and a short drive from the famous Sandbanks Provincial Park, home to pristine white sand dunes, inviting blue water and hiking trails.

On a warm day, you can enjoy one of the area’s many outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, kayaking, and fishing.

And one of the most popular hotels in this region is not only locally known, but recognized globally. The Drake Devonshire is recognized by Condé Nast Traveler UK for its annual Readers’ Choice Awards, and is in the Michelin Guide’s “Nine Boutique Hotels to Know in Ontario.”

According to the Michelin Guide, “Drake Devonshire is full of personality: a 19th-century foundry transformed into a 21st-century farmhouse hotel, full of contemporary artwork and inspired modern design. »

And this summer, the beloved hotel introduced its first-ever on-site swimming area for its guests.

The Drake Devonshire, which placed 18th in the Readers’ Choice Awards last fall, is a perfect getaway from the city – located directly on the lake and featuring a beautiful on-site restaurant that offers brunch and dinner.

Another addition this summer? It’s added a new beachside bar, as well as a raw bar featuring fresh seafood and cocktails, so you can enjoy drinks by the water.

The Drake Devonshire may only have 13 rooms (with plans to expand in the coming year), but it recently added a custom 10-person outdoor sauna with floor-to-ceiling views of the lake.

For those who enjoy outdoor games, you will now also find boules and pickleball on site.

And outside the property, you can explore the town’s galleries, admire the city’s fascinating heritage museum, its local weekend farmers’ markets, or stroll the scenic boardwalk to a lighthouse.

PEC is best known as a wine region, and you’ll find a wide variety of local wineries here where you can stroll among the vineyards, enjoy a few sips, and purchase a bottle to take home.

Get ready to enjoy the charm of the countryside. It’s really hard to believe that this summer paradise is just two hours east of Toronto!
