Castres. Works on rue Henri IV: all the practical information in detail

Continuing the development of the Sabatier/Gambetta axis, it is the turn of rue Henri-IV to undergo a complete renovation, in terms of sanitation, networks and lighting.

The work will last approximately six months. They should start in July and end in December.

For the sake of consistency and aesthetics, the development principle will be identical to that of rue Sabatier and formerly Gambetta, recently renamed rue Jacques-Limouzy, in homage to the former mayor of Castres, deputy and secretary of state who died in 2021. Thus, the sidewalks will be widened to comply with regulations (minimum width of 1.40 m free of any obstacle); there

The roadway will be made of sand-coloured bush-hammered concrete with a central gutter made of limestone paving stones and the street furniture – litter bins, removable spheres, mobile planters – will be taken over. Traffic will be adapted and access to shops preserved.

Throughout the duration of the work, rue Henri-IV will be closed to vehicle traffic. Pedestrian access to shops and services will be maintained without interruption. A diversion will be put in place, leading to changes in the direction of traffic in the rue des Capitouls and des Capucins.

The main stages of the project are as follows: separation of the sanitation networks (wastewater/rainwater) and creation of a rainwater collection network. Replacement of lighting cables and Christmas lights on the facade and under ducts.

Installation of automatic retractable bollards at the entrance to the street to manage access, installation of mechanical retractable bollards in perpendicular streets, installation of minute stop bollards, installation of curbs and limestone paving stones under the sidewalks, installation of a central gutter in limestone paving stones and installation of sand-colored bush-hammered concrete on the roadway, finally, installation of street furniture: litter bins, removable spheres, mobile planters and signage.
