A man and a woman were indicted and imprisoned on Friday in the investigation into a shooting which left one dead in early June on the terrace of a restaurant in downtown Saumur, the Angers prosecutor’s office announced.

On June 3 at the end of the afternoon, the shooting caused the death of a 21-year-old young man, and left a 20-year-old injured in the hand. According to the prosecution, the facts would be “linked to a debt of 100 euros”.

A 19-year-old young man, the alleged instigator of the shooter, had already been indicted on June 8 for “complicity in assassination and attempted assassinations” and placed in pre-trial detention.

On Tuesday evening, investigators from the interdepartmental directorate of the national police (DIPN) in Angers arrested the two other suspects, a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, in the Tours area.

“Circumstances” to be specified

The man admitted in police custody to being the perpetrator of the acts, Angers public prosecutor Éric Bouillard said in a press release. He was charged with murder, attempted murder and unauthorized acquisition of a category B weapon.

For her part, the young woman who drove the shooter admitted to having assisted him during his escape, according to Éric Bouillard. She was indicted in particular for complicity in assassination, complicity in attempted assassinations and hiding a criminal from search.

Both were placed in pre-trial detention and the investigation is continuing “to clarify the circumstances of the events”.
