The Bois-du-Château district in Lorient (Morbihan) has three schools: Bois-du-Château, Jacques-Prévert and Marcel-Pagnol.

The City is leading the project to create two school groups through the restructuring of the Bois-du-Château schools, the reconstruction of the Jacques-Prévert school and ultimately the destruction of the Pagnol school. “These school facilities no longer meet today’s needs, explained Morgane Christien, first deputy in charge of education, and appear undersized, dilapidated or poorly suited to school and extracurricular activities. »

350 additional homes

A programming study was conducted. It allows this vast project to be included in the urban renovation program underway in the district. It will accommodate 350 additional housing units, enough to strengthen this school equipment project to meet the needs of new families.

Between 2028 and 2030

The work will take place from the end of 2026. Students will be welcomed from the start of the 2028 school year for Jacques-Prévert and the start of the 2030 school year for the 1re phase of the Bois-du-Château school.

Each school group will eventually accommodate a nursery area with five classes, an elementary area with eight classes as well as a school restaurant, spaces dedicated to extracurricular activities and a leisure center. The courtyards will be reorganized.

The two envelopes to carry out these projects are €10,628,699 including tax for Jacques-Prévert and €11,213,240 including tax for Bois-du-Château.
