Legislative elections in Lorient: Le Drian, Glucksmann, who supports who in the 5th constituency?

Who says legislative elections, says public support. As in 2022, there was no shortage of them in the 5th constituency of Morbihan, where 80,809 voters are called to express themselves and choose among the four candidates in the running. As in 2022, the outgoing MP, Lysiane Métayer (Together for the Republic), can rely on a menhir: Jean-Yves Le Drian. The former mayor of Lorient, former deputy and former minister is, once again, president of his support committee. “Lysiane embodies Breton-style social democracy, unifying, open, humanist, tolerant, fundamentally European. The one that, collectively, we have been supporting for many years in the country of Lorient”, writes the one who sees in her “a committed MP, who unambiguously refuses radicalism and extremes”. La Lorientaise is also indirectly supported by François Bayrou, present in Lorient on June 22 to support the presidential majority candidates. Fabrice Loher, mayor of Lorient and president of Lorient Agglomération, Patrice Valton, mayor of Larmor-Plage, and Dominique Yvon, mayor of Groix also support the candidacy of Lysiane Métayer as do the progressive elected officials of Lanester.

Avalanche of support on the NFP side

Unlucky candidate in 2022, the ecologist Damien Girard intends to take advantage of the dynamics of the New Popular Front to win his place at the Palais Bourbon. From the climatologist Jean Jouzel – for whom the new assembly “must imperatively play its role in keeping our commitments under the Paris agreement” – to the actors of cultural life, such as the Lanesterian graphic artist Fritz Bol, the musician Yann Kermabon or the photographer Daniel Challe, there is no shortage of support. Latest: Raphaël Glucksmann, head of the list in the European elections. On Instagram, he explains that “Damien Girard will bring to the assembly the voice of solidarity, the Republic and humanism”.

While no public support has reached us for Aurélie Le Goff (Rassemblement national) and Blandine Pierron (Lutte ouvrière), many are lining up behind Damien Girard. Starting with his former opponent in the last municipal elections (2020): Laurent Tonnerre, municipal councilor of Lorient. Like many elected officials (Gaëlle Le Stradic, regional and municipal councilor in Lorient; Gaël Briand, regional councilor and municipal councilor in Lorient; Delphine Alexandre, vice-president of the regional council; Gilles Carréric, mayor of Lanester) or former elected officials (Joël Labbé, former senator; Norbert Métairie, former mayor of Lorient; Jean-Pierre Anfré and Thérèse Thiery, former mayors of Lanester; Loïc Le Meur, former mayor of Ploemeur), he signed the call to support the NFP candidate.
