Two stages in Haute-Savoie and a final arrival in Glières this weekend.

The Critérium du Dauphiné will end in style this weekend with Haute-Savoie! Two stages are planned in the department for this cycling race considered as a major rehearsal before the Tour de France.

Albertville – Samoëns then Thônes – Les Glières

Saturday’s stage (155 km) will link Albertville to Samoëns via the Col des Saisies, Megève, Sallanches and Taninges. The final arrival will take place on the Glières plateau on Sunday. The stage will leave Thônes for 160 km via Arenthon, le Salève, Cruseilles and Thorens-Glières. Be careful, traffic disruptions are expected in all affected areas this weekend. Access to the Glières plateau will be closed from Sunday morning. Reopening once the race has passed, with a prefectural decree which goes until 6 p.m. maximum for the closure of the road (but early opening is possible).

Evenepoel in yellow

Among the cyclists present at the Critérium this year: Remco Evenepoel who is in the yellow jersey and Primoz Roglic currently 2nd overall. Bruno Armirail of the Savoyard team Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale is the first French overall. He is 6th.

3 mountain stages to finish

This Thursday’s stage was neutralized after a huge fall which took down 50 riders and caused some damage. Time for the mountains for these last three days with this Friday a stage between Hauterives and Le Collet d’Allevard.

The Critérium du Dauphiné commentary:

“Another sequence begins with the big mountain weekend which is traditionally divided into a triptych. This year, the first part takes the peloton to the Collet d’Allevard to conclude a stage of 174.1 km, the last third of which includes two long climbs: the climb to the Col du Granier then the final climb in the Isère station, classified out of category. Remco Evenepoel will have to be on his guard to keep his advantage of 33” over Primoz Roglic and 1’04” over. Matteo Jorgenson. A battle between the title contenders will certainly take place on the final slopes, but it is not certain that the big favorites will also compete for the bouquet of the day. The profile of the stage also lends itself to a breakaway. which of the climbers already far from the provisional podium could slip in David Gaudu, positioned 4’07” from the Belgian leader, would then be in a position to try his luck, such as Guillaume Martin (4’33”) or even the. Dane Jonas Gregaard, used to escapes on the Dauphiné.
