After the first round of early legislative elections, the Trait-d’Union Political Movement, led by Michel Vergoz, expressed its concerns about voter engagement and criticized the secret alliances between certain parties. For the second round, they called on voters to vote conscientiously while reaffirming their opposition to the extremes.

The first round of this election was marked by a turnout of 45.5% compared to 30% in 2022 in Réunion. Although it is certainly increasing, this figure does not reassure us in any way about a renewed interest of voters in public affairs.
Indeed, when more than one voter in two is rooted in the policy of “pa là ek sa” in a global context as constrained as today (war at the gates of Europe – foreign influences through illegal immigration – permanent disorder in the National Assembly, etc.), it is still to be feared that the worst is unfortunately yet to come.
Furthermore, when the political apparatuses, constituting clearly opposing forces (LR and PS), discredit themselves, to the point of settling agreements in secret, as improbable as they are unexpected, like those sanctioned on the 4th constituency of Saint-Pierre, the 5th constituency of Saint Benoît and the 6th of Saint Denis, for the voters, it is not possible to hope that political responsibility will be honoured.
“THE OTHER PARTIAL AGREEMENT IN MISOUK” between Michel Fontaine and “THE VARIABLE GEOMETRY PLATFORM » by Ericka Bareigts, was a real pig-eating.
We are pleased that it was sanctioned by the voters of these three constituencies, in a clear and unequivocal manner as we requested (see Facebook “Mouvement Politique Trait-d’Union” of June 24, 2024).
Now, for the second round on July 7, we leave the people of Reunion free to vote, in all conscience, while reminding them that political commitment to the “Trait-d’Union Political Movement” is based on the rejection of extremes.
