Marième Badiane has reached a new milestone on her path to the 2024 Olympic Games. The 29-year-old (1.90 m) from Brest is on the new list reduced from 18 to 15 names by the coach of the French women’s basketball team Jean-Aimé Toupane during the preparation of the Bleues, with a view to competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (from July 26 to August 11).

Pauline Astier (22 years old, Bourges), Marie Pardon (23 years old, Basket Landes) and Ana Tadic (25 years old, Miskolc (Hungarian D1)) are the three players who were not kept in the current group.

Badiane, European champion with her club Fenerbahçe (Turkish D1) and Les Bleues will enter a second phase of their Olympic preparation. After beating Finland twice (129-50, then 117-59) during their week of training in Vendée, lJean-Aimé Toupane’s players will join Lyon for a new week of training, between July 6 and 12, which will see them face Serbia in a friendly match. They will then continue with a final training camp in Reims from July 16 to 22 and two new preparation matches against Belgium, China or Japan before moving to the Olympic village in Lille to start the long-awaited competition.

There is one more step for the Brest player to take in order to see the Games in less than a month, namely to be part of the final group of 12 players (plus three substitutes) who will compete in the Olympic Games. This list will be published at the latest this Sunday.
