The Casablanca-Settat Regional Council approved, on Monday, during its ordinary session for the month of July 2024, unanimously by the members present, the 70 items on the agenda, including 60 agreements, relating to the implementation of development programs in various fields.

According to the President of the Region, Abdellatif Maâzouz, the items on the agenda of the session are part, in particular, of the preparation for the 2030 World Cup, specifying that 13 agreements have been approved in this regard and that a budget of more than 5 billion dirhams is allocated to the construction of roads.

The session of the Regional Council, which was held in the presence of the Wali, Mohamed Mhidia, was marked by the examination and approval of a series of conventions within the framework of the implementation of the Regional Development Program (PDR) 2022-2027, and aimed at carrying out development projects in the economic, social, cultural and environmental fields.

At the beginning of the session, Mr. Maâzouz highlighted the progress of the various projects underway in the Casablanca-Settat region. He also recalled the communication activities and meetings, as well as the field visits carried out as part of project monitoring.

Subsequently, the present members of the Regional Council unanimously approved, after examination, the 70 items on the agenda, organized around six main axes: “Employment and economic, rural and tourist development”, “Roads, infrastructure, basic equipment and urban upgrading”, “Water, environment and sustainable development”, “Applied scientific research, new technologies and digitalization” and “Social and medical services, education, sport and culture”.

Regarding the axis relating to the “Budget, financial affairs and programming”, 4 points were also approved, in particular a loan from the Municipal Equipment Fund (FEC) by opening a line of credit of 1 billion dirhams (MMDH), with the aim of contributing to the financing of projects included in the PDR of the Casablanca-Settat region.
Furthermore, according to the president of the region, of the 60 approved agreements, 30 concern investment and employment in the sectors of industry, tourism and logistics.

Addressing these points in detail, Abdellatif Maâzouz noted that agreements with a budget envelope of 2.5 billion dirhams were approved concerning industry, agreements of 1.3 billion dirhams for tourism and logistics, as well as agreements committing an investment of 300 million dirhams concerning very small, small and medium-sized enterprises, in particular emerging companies.

Particular attention is also paid to the fight against shanty towns in the region, continued Mr. Maâzouz, noting that a budget of 18 billion dirhams has been allocated for this purpose, involving several partners.

He also stressed that within the framework of the preservation of water resources and the protection of the environment, 5 agreements of more than 1.5 billion dirhams were approved, providing in particular for the establishment of wastewater treatment plants in the region.
