5th constituency (Chalon/Montceau). Outgoing MP Louis Margueritte abandoned by part of his campaign team

“We, members of Louis Margueritte’s campaign team, take note of his decision not to withdraw despite his third position. We regret it.”

This is how the press release sent by Roméo Lomazzi, parliamentary collaborator of Louis Margueritte from 2022 to 2024, Benjamin Cudel, Valentin Czech and Philippe Decroocq, members of the campaign team, begins.

As a reminder, the outgoing deputy of the presidential majority, who only came in 3rd position on Sunday evening behind the RN and the NFP in the 5th constituency of Saône-et-Loire (Chalon/Montceau), announced on Monday that he was maintaining his candidacy for the second round.

“We refuse to participate in this campaign…”

“By staying in the second round in a four-way race, Louis Margueritte refuses to give a chance to a republican rally next Sunday. Faced with the risk of an absolute majority of the extreme right in the National Assembly, we refuse to participate in this campaign likely to elect an additional RN deputy, they write. Consequently, we call with all our strength to block the extreme right on Sunday.”

Candidates who qualified for the second round have until 6 p.m. this Tuesday to withdraw.
