Omar Sy, the “Intouchables” actor, was photographed twice during the summer of 2013 during a stay near Geneva.

French actor Omar Sy was flashed at speeds well above the authorized limits on his motorcycle during his stay in Switzerland in the summer of 2023.

Speeding

A first time at 92 km/h on July 19 not far from the border, while the maximum speed authorized at this location is 50 km/h, i.e. an excess of 37 km/h if we remove the safety margin of 5 km/h. Then a second time, the next day at 98 km/h instead of the authorized 60 km/h, reports 20 minutes.

He allegedly never responded to the notices and registered letters sent by the police. He would have done “use of one’s right to remain silent”indicates the Swiss daily.

“He did not transmit the slightest document capable of demonstrating that he was not the author of the alleged offenses, it being further emphasized that he also did not provide the contact details of other people likely to having driven the vehicle in question at the time of the alleged acts”explains the Geneva public prosecutor’s office, which confirms that he is indeed the owner of the two-wheeler.

32,500 euros fine

The “Intouchables” actor will have to pay a 105-day fine of 300 francs per day, or more than 31,500 Swiss francs, the equivalent of 32,500 euros. A reprieve was granted for 3 years given his lack of history in the country, but he received a fine of 6,300 Swiss francs “as an immediate sanction”indicates our colleagues.

The public prosecutor charged him with an offense on two occasions which punishes “the fact of creating a serious danger for the safety of others or taking the risk of doing so by a serious violation of a road traffic rule”.
