Ruffin qualifies for the second round in pain… and behind the RN candidate

François Ruffin, outgoing LFI deputy for the 1st constituency of the Somme, was in a triply uncomfortable situation. Unofficial leader of the New Popular Front, he refused the investiture of France Insoumise and had to campaign in a territory where the RN won 43% of the votes in the European elections.

The man who was seen by part of the New Popular Front as a potential Prime Minister is in difficulty in the 1st constituency of the Somme. According to the results, which are still partial and taken at length, the outgoing deputy is left behind by the candidate of the National Rally of the National Rally Nathalie Ribeiro Billet, who achieved a score of 40.69%. The score of the person who refused the rebellious nomination is 33.92% of the votes, according to the official results.

In 2022, the former journalist and founder of the newspaper Fakir was elected with 61.01% of the votes in the second round, after having gathered 40.09% of the votes cast in the first round. He was elected in this territory acquired from the far right for the first time in 2017, after gathering only 24.32 votes in the first round.

In this constituency, the Ensemble candidate, Albane Branlant, came in third position with around 15% of the votes. The New Popular Front contender is already hoping for a postponement of Macronist votes in his favor to beat the National Rally candidate in the second round.

That’s good. Albane Branlant has rightly announced that she is withdrawing in favor of François Ruffin to block the National Rally: “I do not confuse political adversary and enemy of the Republic. »
