More than two years of war in Ukraine

This is a short amateur video, filmed during shootings in the direction of Crimea this Sunday, June 23. On a sunny beach, bathers quickly pick up their belongings and run away, including the author of the video. According to the Russian military, five ATACMS missiles were fired by Ukrainian forces on Sunday and four were reportedly destroyed in flight near the port city of Sevastopol. Debris from the intercepted missiles fell on the coast, according to the local governor, who said four people were killed, including two children, and 150 others injured.

American missiles

Russia threatened the United States with reprisals the day after these Ukrainian shots, accusing them of “kill Russian children”. For the Kremlin, these are American long-range ATACMS missiles that were used by kyiv’s forces, which would require specialists, technologies and data that kyiv does not have. The West recently began to authorize kyiv to use some of its weapons to strike military sites on Russian territory used to bomb Ukraine. Vladimir Putin had threatened this month to deliver equivalent weapons to enemies of the West, so that they could attack their interests in other regions of the world.

The case of Crimea is specific. Annexed by Russia in 2014, the “Autonomous Republic of Crimea” is still considered Ukrainian, by kyiv, as by almost all UN member states, with the exception of eleven of them. These are therefore not strikes on Russian soil, within the meaning of international law.

The American Department of State also recalled providing “arms to Ukraine so that it can defend its sovereign territory against armed aggression, including in Crimea which, of course, is part of Ukraine”through its spokesperson, Matthew Miller, who argued that the “Russia could end this war today”. In Washington, the Pentagon was content to say that Ukraine “makes your own decisions”.

kyiv has neither confirmed nor denied Moscow’s allegations, an adviser to the presidency, Mikhaïlo Podoliak, recalling that according to the Ukrainians, “Crimea is a vast military camp and warehouse [russe] with hundreds of direct military targets”.
