Marine Le Pen demands “an absolute majority for Jordan Bardella to be appointed Prime Minister”

“We need an absolute majority so that Jordan Bardella will be named Prime Minister in eight days by Emmanuel Macron“, launched Marine Le Pen on Sunday June 30, a few minutes after the results of the first round of the legislative elections. The French have, in an unambiguous vote, demonstrated their desire to turn the page on seven years of contemptuous and corrosive power. (…) However, nothing is won, and the second round will be decisive,” declared the one who was elected in the first round in Pas-de-Calais. SFollow the election night and the results with us.

Emmanuel Macron calls for a rally “against the RN”.Faced with the National Rally, the time has come for a large, clearly Democratic and Republican gathering for the second round,” declared the Head of State after the first round. For the President of the Republic, the high participation shows a desire to “clarify the political situation.”

A sharp increase in participation. French voters still have a few minutes to vote in the first round of the legislative elections, in cities where offices close at 8 p.m., but the vote is already proving more mobilizing than in 2022. Participation reached 59.39% in 5 p.m., according to the Ministry of the Interior, up sharply compared to the 39.42% observed in 2022.

The final abstention should be relatively low, at 34.5%, according to our Ipsos-Talan estimate. This is 18 points less than in 2022, when 52.49% of those registered did not come to vote in the first round of the legislative elections. The dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron on June 9 mobilized voters. If this figure is confirmed, this election would show the highest participation in a first round of legislative elections since 1997.

Barely 4,000 candidates in the running for the first round. The number of aspiring deputies (4,009) has never been so low for almost thirty years. Between the alliance of left-wing parties and the restricted deadlines for presenting candidates, there are 2,280 fewer for these elections than in 2022.
