The young man, 22 years old, arrived in the dock with a closed face. A dark look. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, he appeared at the Quimper court (Finistère) for violence and the burning of a car. The victim, who also owns the vehicle, was at the hearing.

The events took place on Friday June 28 at around 10:45 p.m. Penmarc’h“That evening, the gentleman showed relentlessness even though he was forbidden from having contact with the victim,” the prosecution noted.

The owner of the vehicle says he received a punch which earned him two days of total incapacity for work.

Cocaine, alcohol, methadone

The defendant was drunk. “He has been drinking alcohol since he was 12-13 years old,” his lawyer said. Her client drinks “four to six strong beers a day,” also takesheroin and cocaine “from time to time” alongside substitution treatments to methadone.

Her lawyer cites “a set of weaknesses” to ask psychiatric expertise of the young man.

Psychiatric expertise

The latter still lives with his mother. He has not worked since his last conviction in February 2023 for domestic violence.

His record includes another mention for violence committed in 2022 against the owner of the vehicle set on fire on June 28, 2024.

The court ordered a psychiatric assessment and adjourned the trial until Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
