A prisoner at Perpignan prison was “beaten up” by two drunken guards, according to information obtained by France 3 Occitanie. The incident took place in a secure room at the hospital where the victim had been transferred.

France 3 Occitanie has learned that a prisoner at Perpignan prison was allegedly assaulted by two of his guards. The incident occurred on June 21 outside the prison grounds. According to our source, the prisoner was then placed in one of the secure rooms at Perpignan Hospital and for an unknown reason, the two guards allegedly “beat him up.”


Contacted, the Prosecutor at the Perpignan Judicial Court confirmed the attack on the prisoner who filed a complaint for assault and battery.

The two guards were prosecuted for violence without ITT by a person in a position of public authority. They were brought before an immediate court last Friday and placed under judicial supervision by the criminal court.

According to our sources, the two guards were intoxicated at the time of the attack, which took place on the premises of the Perpignan hospital. The Gendarmerie was dispatched to the scene and the tests revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.7g.

The prosecutor continues by stating that “lThe case will be heard on September 27, 2024” and that theThe two defendants have no criminal record. The defendant left Perpignan and was transferred to the Seysses Prison, near Toulouse.
