Spanish police have dismantled a drug trafficking network that was transporting cocaine from Spain to Morocco through the occupied city of Melilla. Several people of Moroccan and Spanish nationality were arrested.

A vast cocaine trafficking network using German luxury cars has just been dismantled. Drug traffickers used the double bottoms of luxury cars to hide large quantities of drugs to ship them from several Spanish cities to Morocco, Iberian media report.

Drug traffickers had bases in Algeciras, Málaga, Motril and Almería, and then sent the drugs to Melilla to finally be able to flood Morocco with this very expensive drug.

The organized criminal group was transporting cocaine from several ports in southern Spain to Morocco until the police intervened and discovered the involvement of 13 people.

The operation, called Gemelo, also made it possible to seize 37.5 kilos of cocaine, worth 1.2 million euros, as well as goods valued at more than one million euros and 67,000 euros. in cash, according to a statement from the command of the Spanish Civil Guard in Melilla.

Furniture and buildings valued at more than one million euros, with the intervention of 36 vehicles, two homes, 35 bank accounts, as well as documents of interest, a significant sum of mobile phones and cutting-edge electronic equipment, were part of the jackpot raked in by the Spanish police services.

A total of 13 detainees of Spanish and Moroccan nationality, all with serious criminal records, were arrested as part of this investigation led by the Melilla court.

Operation Gemelo began a year ago and several searches and arrests have been made since the discovery of this criminal network. According to the Iberian police, the mastermind of this group was in the town of Motril where two men, a father and son, ran a business selling German cars.

“All members of this criminal network were arrested during the exploitation phase of this operation, the criminal organization is therefore considered dismantled,” indicated the same sources.
