The Court of Cassation confirmed the ban on the GTR Mountain company from organizing snowmobile tours in the Chamrousse ski area.
Snowmobile tours: resorts in violation
The mayors of the stations granted exemptions completely illegally.
Thus, the GTR Mountain company in Chamrousse has organized, for nearly 20 years, snowmobile hikes to the summit of the Isère resort.
In 2020 and 2021, the environmental protection associations Mountain Wilderness and France Nature Environnement Isère (FNE 38) filed a complaint to denounce this breach of the law.

The ban on snowmobile rides
The decision of the Court of Cassation prohibits snowmobile rides on the Chamrousse ski slopes. THE exemptions are definitely illegal.
By banning this practice, the Court of Cassation confirms that ski slopes must also be considered natural spaces.
The practice of snowmobiling is opposed to the conservation of environments, to the preservation of animal and plant species and generally to the protection of natural spaces and landscapes.
30 years of mobilization of nature protection associations
Nature protection associations have been mobilized for years.
They now hope that this decision will jurisprudence.
Today, around fifty companies still offer snowmobile tours in the Alps.
