An agreement relating to the implementation of a parental responsibility course was signed between the Carcassonne public prosecutor’s office, the Departmental Association for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (ADSEA), and the Prison Integration and Probation Service (Spip) of Aude.

“I am confident because our jurisdiction is signing an agreement with two essential partners.” Tuesday, June 25 afternoon, it was in the Cité room of the Carcassonne judicial court that President Marjorie Lacassagne-Taveau welcomed the signatories of the agreement relating to the establishment of a parental responsibilities course. Opportunity for the president of the Carcassonne judicial court to “welcome the action of the prosecution which has considered a new internship plan…” Following suit, the public prosecutor of Carcassonne, Géraldine Labialle, returned to “this action was carried out with great fanfare, with a project led by the deputy Grégory Singer in charge of minors at the public prosecutor’s office”.

And to insist on the fact that “we are in collective working mode on this project. This internship is very important, because it allows us to define a graduated penal response to address these parents who commit crimes (intra-family violence against a child, or between parents in the presence of a child; school absenteeism; non-representation of a child; abandonment of family, etc.) . Also important, “because it reminds us of the legal, economic, social and moral obligations involved in the education of a child”. We are here on a measure halfway between prevention and repression. “There is a need to invest this internship as an alternative measure, and as a punishment”stressed deputy prosecutor Gregory Singer. “There can be positive things that come out of these courses, with added value for the future thanks to contacts and awareness…”

For this new parental responsibility course, the Carcassonne public prosecutor’s office has entrusted the management and organization to the Departmental Association for the Protection of Children and Adolescence (ADSEA), already very involved in the protection of minors in danger. . “Our teams were trained at this course, with twelve professionals who will take turns”said Christophe Smajda, director of ADSEA in Aude. The Prison Integration and Probation Service (SPIP) is also associated with the project, so that it will be able to direct people placed under the supervision of the justice system towards this parental responsibility course.

Director of the Spip of Aude, Céline Corsetti was delighted with this partnership, which is “an opportunity for us to develop something, to follow what happened during this internship. It is part of our support to be able to evaluate as we go along…” For this parental responsibility course, which costs 150 euros, a session of ten to fifteen people will take place every two months. Combined efforts always have another impact.
