For his part, The rebellious France of Loir-et-Cher details: “The LFI activists of Loir-et-Cher are devastated by the news that broke this Thursday afternoon, June 27. La France Insoumise nationale has withdrawn, after verification, the investiture of Reda Belkadi, candidate in the 1re constituency, for several anti-Semitic tweets published 6 years ago. Indeed, each candidate invested by LFI signs a charter prohibiting all racist remarks and behavior. La France insoumise nationale has therefore been exemplary in unambiguously sanctioning a candidate who was not. Of course, we hope that all political parties will act in the same way. Everyone, individually, has the right to evolve and to repair their mistakes and does not remain responsible for them for life, but they also have the duty to assume their wrongs and consequently not to apply for candidacy. Such behavior is unacceptable and harms the image of the movement. Our thoughts go first to the voters of the 1re constituency who will consider themselves betrayed. It then goes to those many, old and new, who gave themselves without counting for the victory of the New Popular Front in this constituency. We share their disappointment and bitterness. But let us know how to distinguish the national issue from the local ordeal that we are going through, and let us all work together for the victory of the New Popular Front and the defeat of the extreme right. »
François Thiollet, former MEP The Ecologists loir-et-chériens, indicates for its part on the networks that “faced with the evidence of unacceptable remarks, the withdrawal of Reda Belkadi’s candidacy is the only possible choice…” For him, “this concretely means in the constituency voting for Marc Fesneau in the second round, or even in the first round: we share neither the same vision of ecology nor that of social justice, but we share one thing: the Republic”.
