Thursday June 27, the training center of the Union of Metallurgical Industries and Trades (UIMM) Grand Ouest Normandie organized a “Happy Industry” open evening on the Montfoulon site, in Damigny. A site which offers a wide range of training including CAP, professional baccalaureate, BTS, and bachelor.

Young people interested in apprenticeships in the metalworking industry and trades sector, accompanied by their parents, were welcomed by around twenty volunteer apprentices, including Eliot.

Eliot left his 1st year last yearre general to turn to alternation in maintenance of connected production systems. Setting up milking robots motivates him. It was during a summer job that a business manager suggested the work-study program to him. Choice which he is delighted with. The alternation gives him well-being moreover he feels well supported by the trainers.

Double registration for security

The young man is firstly aiming for the professional baccalaureate, then continuing his studies beyond that. Today, he explains and guides, with ease, younger people including Samuel.

Samuel, 3rd grade studente, play it safe. He has carried out a double registration, on the one hand an application for CFA (building) and on the other hand one for the IUMM, if he cannot find a boss. What he dreams of is become an electrician, get a professional baccalaureate and work !

Izack, also surrounded by his parents, and who is finishing a 2of professional in IT, wishes to repeat the second year for a more concrete one at the IUMM. An internship in a company producing rubber reinforced his need for something concrete.

Thus, throughout the evening, young people like Samuel and Yzack, looking for apprenticeships in industrial trades (in boilermaking, welding, design, engineering, maintenance, machining, tooling, electronics, etc.) spoke with their elders, while discovering the workshops.

Registrations are not closed reassures Lydie Richard, referent of the Alençon branch. Personalized visits are still possible. In addition, mini-discovery courses are offered on Wednesday afternoons, in workshops.

To organize a meeting, contact the Training Center on 02 33 31 27 56.
