The National Housing and City Conference is an important annual meeting for housing, real estate and city professionals. This event provides an opportunity to take stock of the trends, innovations and regulations that are shaping the future of the city and housing.

It is in this context that the city of Carpentras was rewarded for its work around the PNRQAD. This somewhat barbaric acronym designates the device launched in 2007 by the National Agency for Urban Renewal, aiming to rehabilitate run-down neighborhoods in the old centers of 25 cities in France. Thanks to this program, the municipality has managed to transform its historic neighborhoods into more modern and welcoming living spaces.

An urban transformation program

Several areas of the city center have recently undergone renovation:

  • Mouton Island signs the construction of 35 social rental housing units, with underground parking and common outdoor spaces. Some of the historic architectural aspects have been preserved and restored. This program is a collaboration between Grand Delta Habitat, the City and Citadis.

  • Raspail North West mark the renovation of 18 private housing units on a block of 5 buildingsThe city remains the owner of the commercial ground floors.

  • The citizen’s house. it’s about the restructuring of a former college turned into a living space associative and services. The project ran from 2010 to 2015.

The Housing and City Conference, national recognition

This award is national recognition for Carpentras’ ongoing efforts in urban redevelopment. In competition with projects from large urban areas such as the athletes’ village for the Paris 2024 Olympic Gamesand those of the cities of Arras, Nantes, Dax, Massy and others, Carpentras rose to the top of the ranking. The mayor, Serge Andrieu, expressed his gratitude by emphasizing the importance of this project.

Being ranked first ahead of the Olympic Village should allow us to gain perspective on everyday problems. and to appreciate the new image that our city is gradually having in France. » Serge Andrieu

He dedicated this award to Véronique Lamotte, a former elected official who died prematurely, with whom he put together the application file for the PNRQAD, as well as to all the agents and elected officials who contributed to the beautification of the city and the improvement of the living conditions of its inhabitants.
