The mayor of Bouéni, Mouslim Abdourahaman, is on trial this Tuesday for favoritism and illegal taking of interest in public contracts awarded by his municipality. An investigation was opened following a report from the regional audit chamber.

Mouslim Abdourahaman, the mayor of Bouéni, is on trial this Tuesday, November 26 for favoritism and illegal taking of interest, after the postponement of the hearing initially scheduled for November 5. The mayor, and several elected officials of the town, were placed in police custody in February in this affair. This follows a report from the regional chamber of accounts particularly on the municipality's management of public markets.

The room mentioned in particular “the absence of internal procedures” and explained that “la municipality proceeding in the usual way to split its purchases. She doesn't keep a list of the deals she makes.” Some awarded contracts are even “contestable” according to the chamber.

In any case, the mayor already knows that he will not be able to participate in the next municipal elections in 2026. In September, he was declared ineligible by the constitutional council for a period of three years, for not having submitted a campaign account in the framework of the senatorial elections in 2023. Mouslim Abdourahaman is far from being the only elected official from Mahor concerned about acts of favoritism and illegal taking of interest.
