Postponed due to bad weather on Sunday, the finals of the JGS Nevers tournament delivered their verdict at the end of the evening, Wednesday, on the Senets courts. Angélique Aubert, for the ladies, and Alexis Leroy, for the men, won in the final.
With 133 entries and 130 matches, the 2024 vintage of the JGSN tournament is in line with its predecessors. However, the weather was not very good and the organizers had to play extra time. “In the end, everything went well and we finished well,” commented, in unison, Silvain d’Agostino, the president, and Élise Hutin, the referee.
Aubert: “I’m gaining momentum”
On the sporting front, Angélique Aubert (15/2, USO Nevers) made the hierarchy talk against Cécile Castan (15/4, ASPTT Nevers). “I’m gaining momentum to tackle the summer,” explains the president of USO Nevers.
While Marzyat Alexis Leroy (15/3) made short work of Sébastien Cliquennois (15/2, USON), dulled by his victory in the over-35s table.
For Alexis Leroy, ranked 15/1 a few years ago, this victory could give him a boost. “I play a bit as an amateur, just with my club, without really training,” he explains. “Winning here gives me new motivation, even if professionally it will be difficult to get back to my best level.”

Final + 35 years: Sébastien Cliquennois (15/2, USO Nevers) beats Christophe Bure (15/3, Montigny-aux-Amognes), 6-3, 6-2. Final + 45 years: Stéphane Marceau (15/3, Vauzelles) beats Sylvain Giron (15/5, Montigny-aux-Amognes), 6-1, 0-6, 7-6.
