30th edition of the Oloron-Sainte-Marie Jazz Festival with an abundant program at the Espace Jéliote and in its hall until Sunday July 7. Friday, at 9 p.m., the French group Cotonete will perform for the first time in Oloron (from €8 to €22). The young group Katoum will host the second part of the evening, from 11 p.m., with its contemporary Creole music (free).

Saturday, at 5 p.m., Alain Jean-Marie, one of the best French jazz pianists (from €8 to €22), will be on stage, for the first highlight of the festival (Espace Jéliote). At 7 p.m., the duo Stompin’Bones will take over (free) in the hall, before the concert at 9 p.m. by Mathias Lévy and the four friends of the “Démons Familiers” (from 10 to 27 €).

Sunday, at 5 p.m., singer Laura Prince will be accompanied on the piano by Grégory Privat (from €8 to €22) at Jéliote. The live after-party will be provided, at 7 p.m., by the composer and producer Gwen Lafitte, accompanied on the harmonica by Mitch (free). To end the evening, the Jéliote space will offer its stage to Louis Matute Large Ensemble at 9 p.m., with its melting pot of current music and popular music with the flavor of saudade from Cuba, South America (Colombia, Argentina, Brazil), the Orient and the Mediterranean (from €10 to €27).

2- Bizanos: open house at the Château de Franqueville vineyard


The bucolic site of the Château de Franqueville will be the setting on Sunday for the traditional summer open days of the château’s vineyard.

The traditional summer open days of the Friends of the Château de Franqueville will take place on Sunday June 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gold medalist wine in the independent winegrowers competition “Lou Bî de la Casta”, the sweet 2022, will be part of the celebration and offered for tasting.

The visitor will also be able to find out about the activity of the “Les Amis du château de Franqueville” association, the maintenance of the vineyard as well as its history, and why not join the association which welcomes beginners or simple enthusiasts.

It will be possible to eat on site with food trucks, with pintxos from Tapas bar, paella from Salsa and sheep’s milk ice cream from the Bouchoo farm. Entertainment will be provided by the Cantère des vignerons.

3-In the colors of Afric’à’Nay

The Terres d’Afrique Fraternité Association is organizing its “Afric’à’Nay” Festival, Friday and Saturday. This festival combines exhibitions, auctions, conferences, and cultural events.

It will begin Friday June 28 with an exhibition of contemporary art. The exhibits will be put up for auction. Marie Renoir, the expert and auctioneer from the television show “Affaire Conclue” on France 2, will lead this sale which will be held between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. (entrance: €5). From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., conferences and screenings will take place at the multi-service center (entrance: €5).

On Saturday, the African village will come alive from 9:30 a.m. with an association stand at Allées Chanzy. From 2 p.m., Place de la République, various activities will take place: fair (€2 for access to a game), musical entertainment by Karamoko, Wax fashion show, presentation of African dogs, awalé competition, and performances of African songs.

Djembe, dance and African song courses will also be offered (€30 each). The evening will continue with a Tuareg solidarity dinner, accompanied by musical entertainment, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Petit Boy room (prices: €12 to €20). The day will end with a concert by Jérôme Jouannic & Les Papas Gombos and Seyni & The Yéliba at 9 p.m.

As part of the fourth edition of “Jardins Secrets!” » which is held until July 5 in around ten cultural structures in Béarn and Soule, the intertwined acrobatic duo of the Kira company will perform with its show “Tricot”. The audience follows two brothers who find themselves in a closed space and in which the environment will shake them up, forcing them to find solutions to maintain harmony.

Surprising acrobatics where bodies interfere and intertwine, the duo carrying out research into the movement of bodies that fit together, to delve into the heart of their relationship. This company was a medalist at the prestigious Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in 2020.

5-Concert tribute to the women and children of the camps in Orion

Melina Burlaud, pianist, has been working for several years to find, transcribe, and interpret music written during the war in the Gurs camp.

Meeting of Orion welcomes, Friday evening, to the castle, the Franco-German pianist and historian Mélina Burlaud. She will be accompanied by soprano Anaïs Constans to bring to life the voices of women interned in the camps through melodies and poems that they composed there. The duo delves into the intimacy of these female voices who knew how to maintain faith and courage until the doors of death.

They pay tribute to these often forgotten women, interned in Gurs, Ravensbrück, Theresienstadt or Auschwitz, by performing the works of some of them: Wally Karveno, Ruth Porita, Gertrud Schweizer, Ceija Stojka, Ilse Weber… The two musicians will also pay tribute to the voices of children in the camps.

6-Summer motor festival at the whitewater stadium in Bizanos

Saturday and Sunday, the Bizanos aquasports park hosts the second edition of the Summer Motor Festival. This large gathering of cars and motorcycles will support the association “Listening to road victims”. On the program: large exhibition of cars and motorcycles, entertainment, a concert, a DJ evening, blessing of vehicles, an artisan village, dealers, a raffle, all with the presence of food trucks and casetas. 7-Harvest festival in Navarrenx


Los d’Ortes will participate in the musical entertainment of the harvest festival in Navarrenx.

On Saturday, Navarrenx opens its 3rd harvest festival, organized by Animagri Béarn des Gaves with, from 9 a.m., with garage sales, crafts, breakfast with a fork… The local farmers’ market will open at 9:30 a.m. The midday meal is offered with products from local producers. The afternoon will be enlivened by dances and songs from the RPI G. Ausset schools at 2 p.m., followed at 3 p.m. by the Béarnais songs of Los d’Ortes, at 4 p.m. traditional dances by the dancers of Castetnau and at 6 p.m., Pyrenean songs by Louis Esbagats d’Asson.

Led by charismatic singer Eugene Robinson, the American band Oxbow is back in Pau ten years after its first visit to Béarn.
