The seasons follow one another but are not alike. On July 1, 2023, the recovery was played under a generous drizzle. This Wednesday, June 26, a blazing sun accompanies the first steps of the Dacquois in the 2024-2025 financial year, the second of a new era. A small part of the workforce, due in particular to the geographical distance from their family, has extra vacation time.

The second row Joshua Furno (34 years old) will not believe it. During May, he had indicated to the club his desire not to honor his last year of contract and US Dax took a dim view of the possibility of a rebound in Pro D2. The future of the Italian international should rather take shape in Australia, his native country.

Arrivals and deadlines

This departure, previously unexpected, has just been compensated by the arrival of Lucas Guillaume (1m97, 112 kilos). The Spanish international third and second line (JIFF) signed with US Dax for two seasons, after spending five with Albi. An aerial profile, trained in Montpellier then at the Leicester Tigers (2012-2014). He is the fifth and final recruit, after Jale Vatubua (center/Pau), Dino Casadeï (pillar/Stade Montois), Kito Falatea (hooker/Bourges) and Alexandre Manukula (second row/Colomiers).

45 players, including the training center, are expected. The integration of the new players should be perfect during the pre-season training course, organized the week of July 8 in the Pyrenees in Saint-Lary. Two other events await the US Dax before the resumption of Pro D2, scheduled for the last weekend of August. The red and white will travel to the Aguilera stadium on August 10 (at 8 p.m.) to challenge Biarritz Olympique. Six days later, they will welcome SU Agen to Capbreton.

Hose under construction

Last year, the Maurice-Boyau stadium hosted two friendlies, a Landes derby then an exhibition match with a Top 14 flavor between Union Bordeaux-Bègles and Stade Rochelais. This summer, the Dacquois jeweler must take a little rest, after the adjustments to his lawn. This, especially when transplanted well, must be preserved at least until the first days of August.

The benches have been removed and several preparatory work is necessary before installing the new shell armchairs.

The change of seat is inevitable to meet the evaluation criteria of the “Stades Label”

This month will be decisive in terms of infrastructure. The delivery of the work – including the town hall for future changing rooms – is hoped by the Dacquois leaders before the resumption of the season. The construction site of this building, subject to the natural flood risk prevention plan (PPRI) and therefore of the same metal as the Roger-Junca space, has not started.

On the other hand, the presidential stand continues to change, the wooden benches have been removed, offered free of charge to the Dacquois – some who came armed with chainsaws – and will be replaced by shell-type armchairs. This change in seating, inevitable to meet the evaluation criteria for the National Rugby League’s “Stadium Label”, should nevertheless result in a loss of nearly 350 places available for purchase. One must suffer to be beautiful.
