The Olympic flame will pass through Colmar this Wednesday, for the third time in its history. Forty-three torchbearers will take part in the event from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., each covering 200 m on a 4.5 km loop. This will leave from the Hôtel d’Alsace, towards Little Venice, the Champ-de-Mars park, the Dominican church, the Saint-Martin collegiate church, the Montagne-Verte, before returning to the starting point .

Marc Nagor, co-president of SR Colmar, will carry the torch at 11:41 a.m., quai de la Poissonnerie

No people on the Colmar course. Among the most prominent torchbearers, Brigitte Saint Bonnet, president of the French Fencing Federation, will be the first to set off from rue de la Semm at 11 a.m. A way for the Olympic Committee to promote Colmar as a land of fencing, with numerous champions to its credit, from Paul André Wormser, Jean-Pierre Muller to Romain Cannone. At 11:02 a.m., the baton will be given to paratriathlete Michael Herter. Local for the stage, insurer Marc Nagor, co-president of SR Colmar, will carry the torch at 11:41 a.m. along the Quai de la Poissonnerie. Note that 24 people will participate in a collective relay, from Avenue de la République to Rue des Têtes, from 11:22 a.m. to 11:27 a.m.

During Monday’s municipal council meeting, sports deputy Barbaros Mutlu recalled that the City of Colmar was in no way responsible for the choice of torchbearers, and that the flame bearers had been designated by the Olympic Committee and the commercial partners of the Olympic Games. The CEA was also able to designate six. “For the stopover town, it’s 10,000 euros per person to nominate! It’s still expensive,” emphasized Eric Straumann. Numerous activities will take place all day long, on the CEA square and Place Rapp.

No vehicles will be allowed to circulate during the passage of the flame.

An exceptional mobilization will be put in place to ensure the safety of the relay and the public, with numerous marshals on the route. The City has deployed some 4,500 m of barriers. Please note, no vehicles will be able to circulate during the passage of the flame and the route will be closed from 8:30 a.m. this Wednesday, June 26. The Rapp, Saint-Josse and Montagne-Verte car parks will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (no vehicle entry or exit will be possible).

During the passage of the Olympic flame, diversions or line deletions will take place on the Trace network, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (details on colmar.fr/flamme-olympique).
