Armed robbery at the Bouygues Telecom store in the Westfield des 4 Temps shopping center in La Défense (Hauts-de-Seine) this Sunday morning, in the middle of Black Friday. The two gloved criminals got their hands on around fifty smartphones before fleeing.
The robbery took place around 10:30 a.m., shortly after the opening of the store located on the 1st floor. “The two accomplices burst into the establishment announcing that they were armed and hiding something in their belt, without ever showing what it was”explains a source close to the case, confirming information from Paris Match. They threatened the staff, who, frightened, opened the trunk where the products were stored.
The criminals, who were wearing motorcycle helmets, got their hands on around fifty phones in total, mainly iPhones, before quickly fleeing. The loot is estimated at around 40,000 euros at this stage. The police made on-site observations and an investigation was opened.
Regular robberies
Phone stores are regularly targeted by criminals who then aim to resell their loot on the black market. At the start of the year in the Paris region, two Bouygues stores were robbed. In Pontault-Combault (Seine-et-Marne) in February, where the police quickly arrested the two alleged perpetrators, and in January in Vigneux-sur-Seine (Essonne).
More recently, in September, an SFR store was the target of an armed robbery in Alès (Gard). The police managed to quickly locate the three robbers, who were arrested while fleeing in a car, near Saint-Étienne (Loire).
