Tours FC, which was until recently a rival of US Orléans in Ligue 2, was placed in compulsory liquidation by the city’s commercial court on Tuesday June 25. The first team of National 3 could be relegated to Regional 2.

Tours FC, at least its professional sports limited company (SASP), was placed in compulsory liquidation on Tuesday June 25, indicate our colleagues from La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest. The amount of the club’s debt would be around two million euros, while in 2022, the TFC had been subject to judicial recovery and a ten-year settlement plan had been granted to it.

Sporting and administrative disillusionments

It is an episode which adds to a long series of sporting and administrative disillusionments, since the relegation of the club from Ligue 2 to National in the spring of 2018: Tours FC had been relegated to N2 then demoted to N3 in 2019, banned from move up to N2 in 2020, demoted to R1 in 2021 then deprived, sportingly, of moving up to N2 these last two seasons by Avoine-Chinon and Poitiers.

Relegation to R2

The immediate sporting consequence of this judicial liquidation is the relegation of the first team, third in its National 3 group this season, to the level where its reserve was playing, in Regional 2, provided that the Tours FC association has the means to continue its activities.

The club and its president Jean-Marc Ettori (in place since 2013) still have the possibility of appealing.
