Diamniadio, June 4 (APS) – The work of the commission in charge of reforming the judicial system has given rise to a broad consensus on the need, for example, to reduce the powers and prerogatives of the prosecution, Ahmadou Bamba assured Diamniadio on Tuesday. Kassé, the rapporteur of the said commission.

“After the general and methodological considerations, it was a question of summarizing the construction work. What I can say is that there was a broad consensus on points relating, among other things, to the reduction of the powers of the Public Prosecutor,” he declared when making public the conclusions and recommendations of the commission which was responsible for working on reforms and modernization of the judicial system.

Mr. Kassé also mentioned the rallying of participants to the idea of ​​creating the position of judge of liberty and detention, without further explaining the role and attributes of this magistrate.

He did not fail to point out the recommendation made by the participants to broaden the scope and powers of the investigating judge.

The rapporteur of the committee in charge of reforms at the same time relayed the proposal made by the participants to create a Constitutional Court in place of the Constitutional Council.

They also found consensus on how to review provisions of the Criminal Code, the Civil Code and the Family Code, according to Ahmadou Bamba Kassé.
