Accelerated by the arrival of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the inaugurations of pedestrian and cycle bridges are multiplying in Seine-Saint-Denis. The latest: those named Pierre Larousse and Lucie Bréard, located in Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis.

A few weeks before the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the inaugurations of footbridges are increasing in Seine-Saint-Denis.

After the “urban Pleyel” crossing inaugurated in May and facilitating pedestrian traffic between the Saint-Denis Pleyel station and the Landy office district, two new footbridges were inaugurated on June 29.

Connecting isolated neighborhoods

The first footbridge, named “Pierre Larousse”, is located in the town of Aubervilliers. It now allows connect Quai Gambetta on the right bank, to Quai Josette and Maurice Audin on the left bank, and more broadly the Quatre Chemins and Millénaire districts.

The second footbridge, named Lucie Bréard, in homage to the first French athlete to win a gold medal at the 1922 Olympic Games, is located in Saint-Denis. It allows you to connecting the Franc-Moisin, Bel Air and Stade de France districts.

This is a pedestrian and cycle bridge 50 meters long and 13 meters wide, which will be equipped with benches and street furniture at the end of the JOP.

A dynamic enabled by the JOPs

This work, which represents a cost of 10.5 million, was carried out two-thirds funded by Olympic money.

In addition to facilitating the passage of pedestrians and cyclists, these two footbridges aim more broadly to reduce social divides in Seine-Saint-Denis by connecting isolated neighborhoods to urban centers and Olympic facilities.
