“This is a demonstration national cycle tourism who will see all departments of France represented and even a team from Belgium,” declares Bernard Alzagapresident of Lot departmental cycling tourism committee, always ready to discover the wonders of the department. After Samatan in the Gers last year, this mixed and intergenerational mountain biker event will take place this year in Puy-l’Evêque, from May 8 to 12. This is the 5e Maxi Verte MTB welcomed in the Lot.

More than 2000 people expected

1,300 mountain bikers are registered, plus 150 walkers, not counting all the accompanying people who benefit from this trip in the Lot. “In total, it is estimated that this event attracts more than 2,000 people to the territory of the Lot valley and the vineyards on the occasion of the May 8 bridge,” adds Mr. Alzaga.

The event is under the aegis of the French Cycling Federation, which has entrusted the organization of the gathering to the Lot departmental committee. It is open to young people, from 10 years old and concerns seniors over 80 years old. A dozen members of the departmental club have been on the bridge for several weeks and during mountain biker traffic days, between 100 and 120 volunteers will be hard at work. Refueling points will be installed every 20-25 km.
