An important system was put in place on Saturday September 28 to fight against an outbreak of fire in the Nigay de Feurs caramel factory.
“The worst has been avoided”, say, relieved, the gendarmes present on site. It was a little before 9 a.m. this Saturday, September 28 when a fire broke out in one of the buildings of the Nigay caramel factory, in Feurs.
One of the company’s ovens, fueled by oil, overheated for a reason that is still unknown. “It’s not a human error, it’s mechanical.”
An employee transported
This caused a significant release of smoke in this building and throughout the area. Five employees were present at the time near this oven. They immediately left the scene without being inconvenienced, following security rules. The ten other employees working on site this morning were also not injured or intoxicated.
As a precaution, only the first responder was transported to an emergency department.No employee was inconvenienced.
A gas measurement action on employees was nevertheless carried out to remove any doubt regarding a risk of poisoning with fumes.
An important device
Around forty firefighters from the Balbigny, Feurs, Firminy, Montbrison, Rozier-en-Donzy and Montrond-les-Bains barracks were mobilized. Their rapid intervention made it possible to quickly control the fire and limit any spread.
GRDF, the municipal police and the gendarmes were also present on site.
