A man, armed with a knife and described as “threatening” towards officers of the city of Paris, was injured by police shooting this Tuesday, October 1 in Paris. He suffered from psychiatric disorders, according to his family.

“His family came forward and indicated that he suffered from psychiatric disorders,” assured the prosecution.
This Wednesday, he was briefly taken into police custody, but he then returned to hospital, his state of mental health being incompatible with police custody, according to the public prosecutor.
Two open investigations
This man was injured by a crew from the Territorial Contact Brigade while he was walking along Boulevard de Belleville, in the east of Paris, with a knife in his hand.
“At this stage, the various testimonies collected are consistent on the fact that the man advanced with a knife, which he sometimes held with his arm outstretched in front of him, in the direction of the police officers and without heeding the multiple summons, nor being arrested in his advance through the use of the taser”, explained the prosecution this Wednesday.
Two investigations were opened. One is entrusted to the second judicial police district for attempted intentional homicide of a person holding public authority.
The second to the IGPN, the police force, for violence by a person holding public authority leading to incapacity for work for more than eight days.
