Ecomondo 2024: at the center of the “Africa Green Growth forum” the Mattei plan for sustainable development

There is one month left until Ecomondo 2024, the benchmark event in Europe for the circular and green economy of the IEG-Italian Exhibition Group, from November 5 to 8, at the Rimini exhibition center, Italy. “The new edition presents an increasingly international perspective: 900 buyers and delegations from 120 countries are expected, notably from the Balkans, sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, Latin America,” announces Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG.

Maurizio Ermeti, President of IEG, explains “A leading event which, now in its 27th edition, highlights Africa and global environmental challenges with a rich program of events”.

Africa Green Growth Forum, as well as a wide range of global conferences, coordinated by the Ecomondo Scientific Committee, chaired by Professor Fabio Fava, highlight, among others, the Mattei Plan, exports of textile product waste, the rise in the level of the Mediterranean Sea.

As Alessandra Astolfi, head of the Green&Technology division of IEG, explains: “Africa Green Growth Forum (Thursday November 7) organized by Ecomondo, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and the Mission Structure for the implementation of the Mattei Plan of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and RES4Africa, will focus on supporting the Mattei Plan for the creation of a center of excellence in Morocco intended for the entire African continent for the training of experts in the renewable energy sector. The following themes will also be addressed: energy, agriculture, circular economy and socio-economic development in Kenya. The Mattei Plan supports the development of the biofuels sector in Africa, to which is added support for the use and recovery of waste (used cooking oils), like what was done by Eni, through the Italian Climate Fund and together with the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), with funding of 210 million dollars to support more than two hundred thousand small agricultural businesses.

Among the scheduled events, “Sea level rise in the Mediterranean, the forgotten threat” (Wednesday November 6) organized by Ecomondo and the UfM, “Accelerating blue interregional cooperation in the Mediterranean basin” (Thursday November 7) organized by Ecomondo & Cluster BIG Blue Italian Growth, of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. And again “Export of urban and used textile waste” (Friday November 8) organized by Ecomondo and UNIRAU.
