“Wine and music agree and complement each other in an amplified experience”: Romain combines the two in “Tannic Accord”

the essential
In life, Romain Danzanvilliers has two passions: music and wine. He has just brought them together by creating “Accord tannique” which offers to discover them differently. And together.

By creating the concept “Accord Tannique”, Romain Danzanvilliers wants to enhance wine through music. And vice versa. “I compose musical tastings where I introduce great classical and jazz artists who play live during a tasting of great wines”, he announces.

At 34, this former artist agent chose to retrain. “I worked for 10 years for big names like Barbara Hendricks, the pianists Alexandre Kantorow, Paul Lay, the Jatekok duo, the percussionist Vassilena Serafimova…”, he explains.
When the latter decided to take a break, these artists in question offered him training in wine. “This is the WSET (The Wine & Spirit Education Trust) which is THE major international training, very prestigious”, explains Romain Danzanvilliers.
This is how he began to take an interest in the world of wine. “I then set foot in a universe as infinite as that of music. We have never completely explored it.”

Nevertheless, Romain Danzanvilliers will find many similarities between the two. “In each, we speak of balance, harmony, agreement, composition, winegrowers assemble grape varieties like musicians assemble notes”, recognizes Romain, who immediately has the idea of bringing them together.
He began to organize small evenings around themes such as: Ballade en Loire, during which a musician plays pieces related to wine. “For example, Muscadets, light, airy, acidic, go well with pieces of Ravel where you have the impression of hearing drops of water falling. In Anjou, we will take wines with more body which will go very well with Bach.”
So to continue this perfect pairing between classical music and wine, Romain Danzanvilliers recommends an old Bordeaux with pieces of Brahms, a Jurançon with Chopin, an Argentinian Malbec with Ravel’s bolero…

Five bottles for a live

Aimed at estates and chateaux, companies or cultural players, as well as individuals, his “Accord Tannique” concept provides for a tasting of five bottles as the concert progresses live, “with one song, one wine”. On the bill, we will be able to find Paul Lay, Thomas Dunford, Eric Crambes, Ruth Rosique… And in the event that the artist cannot travel, Romain has provided a headset, “with or without a blindfold, just to be more sensitive to what we are tasting”.
For him, listening to live classical music helps to enhance the wine, “the two go together and complement each other in an amplified experience. We are more receptive.”
Building on this invention, Romain Danzanvilliers even invented himself oenologist to signify the contraction between oenologist and sound.
