During the review conference on socio-economic development for 2024 and prospects for 2025, held on December 27 in Long An, Nguyên Van Ut, president of the Provincial People’s Committee, highlighted the exceptional nature of the year to come . He stressed that 2025 would be marked by many challenges and would require the simultaneous achievement of two major political objectives: simplifying and optimizing the administrative structure to make it more efficient, and implementing the Resolution of the Party Congress for the period 2025-2030. .

He called on local administrations to strengthen their financial autonomy by promoting the decentralization of resources and to actively work to achieve the state budget target set at 30,000 billion VND

Rice production of more than 3.2 million tonnes in 2024, as well as the development of tourism with 2.5 million visitors for a turnover of 1,300 billion VND, have contributed to the economic dynamism of Long An. These Encouraging results open up new prospects for 2025. The objective is thus to accelerate economic growth and bring the increase in the GRDP to between 8.5 and 9%, subject to an economic context favorable and the continuation of development efforts. Budget revenues are also expected to increase by 12% compared to 2024.

The president called on investors to mobilize from the start of the year by defining precise investment projects. At the same time, he encouraged local authorities to finalize their development plans in order to create an environment conducive to investment and economic development. He urged the departments concerned to accelerate administrative procedures and quickly launch land clearing and construction work. construction of key infrastructure, including access roads to the three bridges on provincial road 827E, the main building of the Political-Administrative Center and provincial road 822B, in order to boost local economic development.

Twenty-one socio-economic development goals

Long An province has set an ambitious development program for 2025, including 21 socio-economic objectives and 10 strategic orientations. This plan aims in particular to modernize urban management by strengthening compliance with the law on town planning. The province will implement an ambitious economic restructuring strategy, focused on the adoption of innovative production models, continuous improvement of product quality and competitiveness, and rational use of resources.

The provincial leader insisted on the need to accelerate the implementation of interregional and urban transport infrastructure projects, in order to improve connectivity and thus attract new investments. He also called for sustained efforts to improve the business environment and strengthen the competitiveness of the province in order to maintain its first place nationally. Managing the province’s natural resources sustainably and efficiently are also among the priorities, while implementing measures to adapt to climate change and prevent natural disasters. He called for an integrated approach to these issues to ensure sustainable development.

In conclusion, Mr. Ut highlighted the strategic role of Long An as “gateway to the Mekong Delta”. He called for strengthening cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City, particularly through the concrete implementation of the cooperation agreement in socio-economic development signed between the two parties. This notably includes a program on the sale of agricultural products from Long An, which has strengthened the agricultural value chain and allowed producers to access more profitable markets. Farmers were thus able to improve their income and living conditions.
