The film “Indivision” by director Leila Kilani will be previewed on June 8 at 7 p.m. at the Alcazar cinema in Tangier.

The screening of the film, which is part of the celebration by the Moroccan Coalition for Climate Justice (CMJC) of World Environment Day (June 5), will be accompanied by debates around environmental issues that cross the Moroccan company, indicates a press release from the organizers.

“Indivision”, Leila Kilani’s second fiction film, is an eco-poetic fable which addresses essential themes linked to climate change, the defense of the environment and the earth through the story of a family that is tearing itself apart. around heritage, located in the evocative setting of Tangier, underlines the press release, adding that the film depicts a conflict around property and raises fundamental questions about our relationship with nature and the environment.

The feature film was selected for around thirty festivals around the world. It had its Moroccan premiere at the Marrakech Festival and received several awards, notably at the Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal (Innovation Prize), at the Fameck Arab Film Festival (Grand Prize) and at the Festival des cinémas d’ Africa in Apt (Young jury prize).

“‘Indivision’ received an excellent critical reception which identifies it as a masterful work. This recognition consecrates the singular journey of a filmmaker who occupies an original place in the Moroccan cinematographic landscape, thanks to the intellectual depth of her work and the singularity of its language”, note the organizers.

Living between Tangier and Paris, Leïla Kilani is an artist committed to women’s rights but also to the environmental cause. Passionate about different forms of narration and storytelling, her work alternates between fiction, documentaries and video essays, with experimentation with the crossing of genres.

The CMJC, created in 2016 and bringing together nearly 250 environmental organizations and networks, youth, social movements and Moroccan unions, works to defend and promote the right of all to a clean and healthy environment.
