After starting in the middle of summer, the series continues as the year 2025 approaches. On July 24, the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) decided not to renew the TNT frequencies C8 (just like those of NRJ12 and of And the Mediaeditor’s note). The group channel Canal+ was pinned for her debts and her repeated fines.
New setback for C8
Following this decision, C8 urgently contacted the Council of State in order to prevent its closure, as indicated in a press release. “C8 firmly opposes Arcom’s decision (…) and has appealed to the Council of State for summary proceedings. Such a decision by Arcom is unprecedented in the history of TNT, since its creation in 2005.“The Council of State rejected this first request, considering that the emergency condition was not”not fulfilled“.
On November 22, the Council of State ruled “inadmissible” the action brought by the group’s channel C8justifying this by the fact that the request was “premature” because filed before the finalization of the procedure by Arcom.
The Council of State will meet in the coming weeks
This Monday, December 30, the Council of State this time rejected the appeals brought in summary proceedings by C8 et NRJ12who contest Arcom’s decision. The highest French administrative court ruled that the emergency condition necessary for an interim order was “not met”, as reported byAFP. The Council of State added that a hearing on the merits would take place in the coming weeks. As a reminder, C8 et NRJ12 should, unless the situation changes, stop broadcasting as of February 28.
