The objective of Health Insurance: avoid lengthy prescriptions and save money in the face of Social Security slippages. Since January 1, general practitioners who prescribe fewer medications will benefit from a bonus of 1,000 euros at the end of the year, reports TF1, Thursday January 2. The measure is expected to cost several tens of millions of euros, but will save more.
“Our objective is to reach the European average, that is to say to reduce the consumption of generic drugs by 25% by 2027“, specifies Marguerite Cazeneuve, deputy director of the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) to TF1.
One in three general practitioners will receive this bonus, again according to the media. They are in fact already good students prescribing less than the national average. It will be necessary, for the other two, reduce their medication prescription by at least 10% compared to 2024.
The measure appears to be well received by patients. “Medicines are certainly good, but there is always a risk-benefit and I think that reducing the consumption of medicines, it can only be good for people“, estimates one of them to TF1.
