This is the maximum temperature record recorded Monday in Montreal for December 30. Heat records were also broken in Trois-Rivières, Rivière-du-Loup and L’Assomption on Monday. These mild temperatures will persist for New Year’s Day throughout southern Quebec.

A weather cocktail combining rain and ice has contributed to the thaw since Saturday in several regions of the province. The regions of Quebec, Charlevoix and Gaspésie notably received between 20 and 50 millimeters of rain at the start of the week.

Return of snow and cold in 2025
- Starting Wednesday morning, snow will appear again in southern Quebec, according to meteorologists’ forecasts.
- The regions of Montreal, Montérégie and Estrie could receive between 3 and 10 cm of snow, with temperatures approaching zero degrees.
- Certain sectors, such as northern Mauricie, the Laurentides wildlife reserve and Chaudière-Appalaches, could receive a generous broadside reaching up to 30 cm.
