Vinicius was sent off this Friday at Mestalla, during the late match of the 12th day of La Liga between Valencia and Real Madrid. The Brazilian striker was guilty of a bad gesture on the Valencia goalkeeper. His teammates turned the match around without him to win 2-1.
The Madrid staff had to quickly remove him and lead him into the corridor to avoid any further incidents. Vinicius received a red card this Friday, during the late match of the 12th day of La Liga between Valencia and Real Madrid. The Brazilian striker was penalized for an ugly gesture towards goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski.
Shortly after the 75th minute, Vinicius was in the penalty area, thinking he would benefit from a penalty for contact from the opposing goalkeeper. The player seemed to be offside anyway. But everything went wrong. As both men stood up, Dimitrievski gave Vinicius a light pat on the back of the head. The latter, mad with rage, responded by shoving his opponent in the face.
Real new leader
Referee Cesar Soto Grado consulted the VAR screen, while tension seriously rose between players from both camps on the pitch, awaiting the final decision. Which also earned Dimitrievski and Lucas Vazquez a yellow card. After deciding, Cesar Soto Grado sanctioned Vinicius with a red card.
Absolutely beside himself, Vinicius was asked to leave the field, held back by certain teammates and the staff. It was also an assistant who accompanied him to the locker room, almost by force.
This did not prevent Real Madrid from winning, even at 10 against 11, with the equalizer from incoming Luka Modric in the 85th minute and the winning goal from Jude Bellingham in the final moments of the match. The club takes the lead ahead of Atlético. After the match, Vinicius apologized immediately on X: “Sorry and thanks to the team.”
