Electric car news
Kia’s strategy is accelerating in the vehicle segment affordable electric vehicles. After unveiling its new Syros SUV in a thermal version last week, the Korean manufacturer is actively preparing its 100% electric version. This new variant, expected for early 2025is part of an ambitious product offensive aimed at democratizing electric mobility.
A shared platform for controlled costs
The future electric Kia Syros will be based on the K1 platform, already used by the Hyundai Inster EV. This technical pooling will make it possible to optimize production costs and offer an attractive price positioning, estimated between 17 500 € et 23 500 € depending on the version. A particularly competitive price which places this compact SUV as an attractive alternative on the market.
The technical sheet looks promising with two battery capacities to choose from:
- An entry-level version of 42 kWh offering approximately 300 km of range
- A more generous version of 49 kWh allowing to achieve 355 km and cycle WLTP
Distinctive design and modern amenities
Although based on a common technical base with the Hyundai Inster EV, the electric Syros will retain the distinctive style of the thermal version. The interior will offer a modern and connected atmosphere, with particular emphasis placed on the latest generation driving assistance technologies.
The manufacturer has paid particular attention to the practical aspect with:
Characteristic | Specification |
---|---|
Trunk volume | 400 litres |
Fast charging | Of 20% to 80% in 30 minutes |
Maximum power | 115 kW (156 hp) |
A strategic electric offensive
This new proposal is part of an ambitious product plan for Kia. The manufacturer aims for sales targets between 50,000 and 60,000 units by 2026 for its affordable electric models, including the Syros EV and the electric Carens. This strategy responds to growing demand in the market for accessible electric cars.
The arrival of the Syros EV marks a crucial step in the deployment of Kia’s electric range, which will also include the future EV3, EV4 and EV5. The Indian market, where the electrical segment is expected to reach a value of $118 billion by 2032represents a major opportunity for the Korean manufacturer.
The combination of autonomy adapted to daily use, modern equipment and an accessible price positions the Syros EV as a key player in the democratization of zero emission vehicles. This pragmatic approach demonstrates Kia’s ability to offer relevant electric mobility solutions, without compromising between accessibility and services.
