Eintracht Frankfurt is threatened with the departure of Omar Marmoush. Will Timo Werner move to the Main instead? That’s the situation.
Frankfurt – It could be that Eintracht Frankfurt will soon have to make do without Omar Marmoush. The Hessian top scorer is attracting interest from Manchester City. The reigning English champions and star coach Pep Guardiola’s club would like to sign the Egyptian in the winter. If the move goes ahead, Eintracht could receive significant financial compensation.
Part of the transfer fee could be invested in signing a successor for Marmoush. The first names are already circulating, including Timo Werner. According to the English portal Football Insider Frankfurt are considering bringing the 57-time German international from Tottenham Hotspur back to the Bundesliga.
-Timo Werner is not an option for Eintracht Frankfurt
How fussball.news has learned, there is no truth to the rumor about a possible move from Werner to Eintracht. The people of Frankfurt are not considering the idea of bringing the Stuttgart native to the Main.
Werner has been on loan to Tottenham from RB Leipzig since January 2024. This loan runs until the end of June 2025, with Spurs having a purchase option worth a rumored 15 million euros. Werner doesn’t have an easy time at Tottenham under coach Ange Postecoglou. This season, the 28-year-old played 25 competitive games, but was only in the starting line-up nine times. So far he has only scored one goal in the League Cup.
Krösche confirms interest in Marmoush
Instead of moving to Frankfurt, Werner could soon be playing in the same league as Marmoush, namely the Premier League. It remains to be seen how quickly Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City will come to an agreement. However, the 25-year-old is firmly scheduled for Hessen’s Bundesliga game at FC St. Pauli (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.).
Before kick-off, Eintracht’s sports director Markus Krösche confirmed this Sky: “A club contacted us and expressed interest.”
